Exercise week 4 Box modeling
I drew inspiration from cartoons I used to watch as a kid like Courage the cowardly dog and Cow and Chicken where they had these types of CRT TV in their universe.
Process
I begin by adding a simple cube mesh. This cube will serve as the foundation for our CRT TV.
Next, I scale the cube along the X and Y axes, making it wider and flatter to resemble the shape of a classic CRT TV. As I tweak the dimensions, I keep in mind the aspect ratio and proportions that were common in those old-school televisions.
Now comes the fun part – giving our TV that iconic curved screen. To achieve this, I use the magic of modifiers. I add a "Subdivision Surface" modifier to the cube and increase the subdivision levels. As I make adjustments, the once rigid and boxy shape starts to transform into a smooth and curvaceous screen.
Can't forget about the frame! I extrude the edges of the cube to create the borders of the TV, adding that distinctive look. I pay attention to the fine details, ensuring the frame has the right thickness and dimensions to match the era we're aiming for.
Now that the basic structure is complete, it's time to bring our TV to life with materials and textures .To add a finishing touch, I give the frame a textured material, replicating the appearance of the plastic and metal casing and something showing on the screen.
